<a href="http://A is for Activist” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>”A is for Activist”, by far is the most progressive children’s book I’ve ever read. A is for Activist provides opportunity for discussion on prevalent topics and introduces ideas such as equality, trans, voting, unions and workers rights. When I first read it, I was wowed. Madison was only one and a half and had no idea what any of this was. So I placed it on the shelf and made a mental note to revisit it when she’s older.
Well, we read it last night and my goodness it was a conversation starter!!! “Why equal rights mommy?”, “feminist?!”, “Look at letter B, look at the butterfly!”, and well, you get the idea.
This is the perfect resource for teaching things beyond reading, writing, and arithmetic. In order to create a more loving and open minded world, we must start at home. Parents, as always, you are your children’s first teachers. Empower their minds with positive thoughts and remarks.
“…at home let the education you provide be the kind that widens their perceptions and takes away the germs of prejudices that infect them while they are out in the world.” – Abhijit Naskar
We hope you enjoy A is for Activist as much as we do.
As always, be blessed.
