I always obsess over wanting to plan these elaborate outings for baby and I. Sometimes the things I want to do requires a lot more time and planning than I have to give. Well, the other day I was heading to get Maddi from school and had an epiphany. After signing her out, I asked Madison if she would like to have a picnic. She said “yes mommy. I like picnic.” That is literally all of the planning we did.
We made the fastest dinner ever, grabbed this week’s library books, a blanket, of course a toy, and then we headed outside. It happened so quickly, I didn’t even get a chance to finish changing my clothes, lol. Anyway, our dinner consisted of Chef Madison’s PBJ sandwiches, kettle chips, and water. Honestly, it doesn’t get more simple than that.
We read our books, ate our food, talked about the stories, waved at our neighbors and shooed a couple of bugs. It wasn’t an afternoon on South Beach and it was far from a five star meal. In all honesty, that’s what made it the most perfect picnic ever. We made some very precious memories and I’m grateful I managed to capture a few pictures to remember it all. We encourage you and your family to get out and enjoy the last bit of warm weather together before it’s too late.
We would love to see photos of your family’s picnic. Don’t forget to tag us in them #CHParentSquad.
